Toyoda Gosei announced that it has successfully developed a new type of white LED, the “TG White Hi,” which incorporates a GaN-based blue LED with a newly developed phosphor to achieve luminosity levels as high as 400 mcd. [For more detail, see press release.] |

AXT announces the production of brighter green, blue and cyan HB-LEDs with a 30% increase in power over the company’s previous LED products. At the same time, the company announced that it was introducing production quantities of large, high flux AlInGaN chips; among these is a blue LED able to achieve efficiencies of 6 lumens per watt.
